TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

    1. SCORING     -           Team                          7,5,4,3,2,1

 

    Each School will only score TWO entries per event. Additional team members will NOT

    displace other school placements. (ie., Centennial places 1st to 4th  in Senior Girls High Jump,

    GCVI places 5th, 6th, and  Erin 7th. Team points awarded are as follows Centennial - 7 + 5pts,

    GCVI - 4 + 3pts, Erin - 2pts. Individual awards and advancement to CWOSSA stay as recorded.

            - Age Class Relays - count towards age class team score

            - 4 x 400m Relays - count towards overall school score

- Open Boys/ Girls 2000m SC - count towards individual score and to

senior lass scores


 

    2. AWARDS - Ribbons will be awarded to the top 3 competitors in each event.

 

Schools who have championship plaques from last year are reminded to bring them to the meet.


    3. ENTRY FEE             MAXIMUM of $150.00 per school

 

Make Cheques payable to CWDHS Athletics 

                                                                                                          

                                - $45 basic fee per school, plus  $2.00 per competitor

 

 

    3a. Each school is responsible for its own first aid


    4. 
Track Event athletes will use stickers to be removed at the finish line. Please pick them up as part of the

    registration package.

          

    5.Throwing Implements - Supply your own. Weigh them first. All athletes in each may have access to

    equipment if used for competition.

 

    6.  Relay - Runners must wear identical tops. Batons will be provided

 

    7.  CWOSSA - Wed. May 20st, and Thur. May 21st , location (TBC). The number of qualifiers are the top 4
    athletes /  
relay teams per event per age class per sex  for our region. The CWOSSA information package will
    be forwarded
once we are sent copies by the organizing committee.

    8. RESULTS - All results will be posted near the results area as soon as possible after each event. Coaches are

    to confirm their CWOSSA entries at the end of the meet as well as provide the appropriate amount owed as per

    the CWOSSA entry package.

 

 

    9.  SCHEDULE  - Please note the order  of events and have your athletes check in with the clerk of the course who will be located near the starting line for TRACK EVENTS only when that event is called.

 

PLEASE NOTE the change in competition schedule to reflect the new age groupings.

 

    Field event athletes are to check in at the competition site prior to the assigned start time for those events.

 

    10. FIELD VS. TRACK EVENTS - Track takes priority, athletes must check in at the field event and then return for the track event If a round has been completed when an athlete returns he/she misses that turn(s). Athletes cannot have more than one trial per round- Athlete may compete out of turn, at the OFFICIALS discretion (ie. Last in round 1, 1st in round 2- On vertical jumps the competitor is deemed to have passed at heights contested during their absence. Upon return to field of competition they join in at the height in progression.

 

    11. FIELD EVENTS (throws and horizontal jumps) - All competitors will receive 3 trials. The top 6 (per age

    group if more than one age is contested simultaneously),and ties for 6th, will receive 3 additional trials. Ties at   
    the 
end of the competition are broken comparing second best effort, third best etc.

 

    12. Coaches can talk to their athletes from the non-competitive area but athletes must stay in the competition

    area.

 

    13. ADVANCEMENT PROCEDURE for 100m and 200m events (all other events are timed finals)


NOTE: The advancement procedure has changed due to our following of the
CWOSSA schedule. To MINIMIZE the number of races an athlete may have if
running 100m and 200m the following criteria will be used to determine the finalists.

6 or fewer entrants               Final only (first race time)                  


                 7 - 30 entrants                      - Top 6 overall times to Final

                 31 or more entrants             - Top 12 to an A and B final, fastest 6 in A Final,                                  
                                                                 - results from B Final may displace A Final times
